Peace Dollar

Peace Dollar

The Peace Silver Dollar was first issued in 1921, coinciding with the end of World War I.  It has been out of circulation since the last coin was struck in 1935.  This 90% silver coin depicts sculptor Anthony de Francisciâ's portrait of Lady Liberty on the observse and an eagle holding an olive branch of peace on the reverse. Peace dollars were the last currency to use a precious metal that was intended for general circulation.
