The Lincoln Penny was first minted in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. It was the first circulating coin to feature a real person instead of the allegorical Lady Liberty. The obverse features a portrait of Lincoln by sculptor Victor D Brenner. This collection features the complete year-set of Lincoln Pennies from the 1950's. Until 1958, the reverse featured the classic wheat ears design. Then, in 1959, the design changed to the Lincoln memorial reverse in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Lincoln?s birth.
