In 2021 the U.S. Mint issued the George Washington Crossing the Delaware Quarter. It turned out to be, in essence, a transition quarter circulated after the last America the Beautiful Quarter and before American Women's Quarter series. Never before has the US Mint minted a transition circulated coin making this in all likelihood a real rarity for years to come.*

* The only coin that it can be loosely compared to, although it is not a transition coin, would be the Bicentennial Quarter which was minted for 2 years in 1975 and 1976 & had a special reverse to celebrate the 200th year of the American revolution
